Finance
Hull College offers bursary support to help with travel, meals, kits, uniforms, essential equipment, trips, UCAS costs and childcare.
Travel support includes Stagecoach or East Yorkshire bus tickets, or reimbursement/allowance if you live outside the Hull area.
If you’re eligible for meals, £5 is added to your ID card each day you attend. Kits, uniforms and essential equipment can be funded if your course requires them, and mandatory trips can also be covered. UCAS fees, uni interviews and visit travel may be reimbursed.
If you’re over 20 with childcare needs, funding is paid directly to your provider within set daily caps.
All support depends on attendance and behaviour, and receipts are needed for anything you buy upfront.
For help, call 01482 329943 or email studentfinance@hull-college.ac.uk.
Essentials Packs
If you ever find yourself short on essentials, you can request an Essentials Pack — a discreet way to get everyday items when you need them.
Each pack can include things like shower gel, deodorant, sanitary products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and basic food items.
Your request will be handled confidentially, and our Safeguarding Team will be notified so they can offer any extra support if you’d like it.
We’re here to make sure you have what you need to feel comfortable and focused on your studies.
Safeguarding & Counselling Support
Remember
You’re never alone — support is always available.
If you are ever worried about your safety, wellbeing, or mental health, please reach out to Student Services, a Safeguarding Officer, or a member of the Counselling Team.
Disabled Student Allowance (HE)
DSA is a non-repayable grant designed to help students with disabilities, long-term illnesses or specific learning difficulties cover additional study-related costs incurred as a direct result of their disability.
It is paid on top of other student finance (tuition fee loans, maintenance loans) and is not means-tested, meaning household income doesn’t affect eligibility.
